Butterfly: “Monarch of Margarine”
There was a time in my life I felt unsafe to open up.
When I expressed who I truly was, I was met with ridicule. People would give me a smile or a nod, but it often came with words of dismissal.
And I got wrapped up in their words like a cocoon of self-doubt. Over time, I learned to fold in and fell for what they were saying.
And therein lies the lesson: folded wings do not fly.
At some point, I realized the very thing I feared was necessary for flight. To generate lift, I needed resistance. I needed to spread my wings and use the push-back of their judgment.
So, I opened up.
And yes, how I express myself might be a little ridiculous to some. But that’s what makes me, me. It’s how I get a rise out of people.
Butterfly is a reminder that you can’t fly if you’re wrapped up in the opinion of other people. Open up. Spread your wings. And let the world watch as you wing it.
If you need a little encouragement to unfold and soar, consider bringing home your own "Monarch of Margarine."
You’ll be “glide” you did. XD
